Summer wedding at ACE Conference Center (Union League Liberty Hill), Philadelphia Wedding PLanner – Events by Angela Malicki

The team and I started at the Ace Conference Center on that sunny Saturday where Paige and the girls were finishing up with hair and make up while the guys were still playing golf. Sounds like a dream right!

From the bride planing their wedding as a joint effort:

“I wasn’t someone who planned every detail to my wedding as a child, and as a result had alot of decisions to make after getting engaged. Fortunately, Teddy was super involved and wanted to be part of everything so it made became less of what I wanted and what I saw, but what WE wanted the weekend to entail. We wanted to be in Philly, and didn’t want the traditional country club/golf club wedding. We wanted something unique and different in the area. After our first venue shut down it encouraged us to really think about what we imagined for our wedding. When we sat down and thought about what a good time was to us, it was a house party where everyone is relaxed and we are able to spend time with everyone! As a result we found a venue that allowed us to make it a full weekend event. We did the rehearsal early on Friday so the groomsmen could play golf at Ted’s club and the girls could have a relaxed luncheon and get our nails done. We wanted the guests to be relaxed so we provided transportation into the city for our Morris House Hotel rehearsal dinner, and provided appetizers in the lobby bar for the rest of the out of town guests Friday night. Saturday morning we had yoga with my favorite yoga instructor Meghan Dwyer and we had golf with the groom at the Ace Club. “

We asked the bride how did she choose the right gown.

From the bride:

“Our attire was inspired by Teddy’s preppiness and my love for comfort. Nothing says preppy like seer sucker and bow ties, so why not combine them. Teddy found an etsy vendor that hand-made the mint seersucker bow ties. I let my bridesmaids make the choice for their dresses and they loved their long Donna Morgan dresses in different styles in Hint of Mint. The girls had different bathrobes to get ready in, and Bella Bridal did our hair and make up.  The girls could personalize their looks with whatever style or color shoe, as well as makeup. My dress was the first one i tried on, and it was a Liancarlo Alcencon lace with cap sleeves and an open V cut back. My wardrobe is full of color, so I had to pull in our mint color with my accessories. I found suede mint pumps from Club Monaco and went with simple mint Kate spade earrings.  “

From the bride:

“One of my mom’s best friends hand-made our invitations. She used the mint color and seersucker as inspiration for her hand done water-color seersucker motif. This then was used for our ceremony programs and menu cards. Michelle Sasser on Etsy hand-made both and they fit perfectly into our look. Bonnie’s Wonder Garden used our colors to tie everything together. She provided us pillars for our ceremony, and an iron arch as a backdrop. “

From the bride:

“Teddy wore a J.Crew light grey italian suit, with grey Focus shoes with mint bottoms. He had a custom shirt made from CommonWealthProper in Philly. The groomsmen were given sperry topsiders with green bottoms.”

Loved their bridal party and their outfits. Navy blazers, and khaki pants, don’t forget the bow ties:) photo by Sweetwater Portraits by Julie Melton

From the bride:

As for our actual wedding growing up I was always told by my mom the keys to a good wedding was a great band and an open bar. We knew right away our band was going to blow everyone away. They knew how to throw a party and keep the crowd going, and were unique to us since they had a fiddler that could play our more country/ folk favorites such as The Lumineers (Ho Hey was our first dance) and Edward Sharpe for our ceremony.  Beer gardens have been popping up everywhere as low key ways for people to enjoy being outside in the summer, and so we decided to utilize the patio of the Lafayette Ballroom to create our own with local beers –  Ted picked out some of his favorite  – Victory and Dogfish Head Craft beers. We had personalized koozies made by Haymarket Designs for our guests, and our each member of the bridals party received one with their name as well. Inspired by Ted’s love for activities and entertainment, we put our monogram on cornhole boards which were later re-purposed for a guest book! We are excited to reuse those at tailgates and the beach.”

Instead of the traditional sign in book, they had a corn hole game that guests signed. photo by Sweetwater Portraits by Julie Melton

Their tables set to perfection. The couple opted for long farm tables for the head table and large rounds for the guests. They had 3 different centerpieces creating an outdoor garden feel in the ballroom. I love the colored goblets! Photo by Sweetwater Portraits by Julie Melton

Each menu card had individual guests listed. All printed materials were designed by a family friend. Photo by Sweetwater Portraits by Julie Melton

We worked with Eventions Production on the lighting placement and designs. Love the market lights and textured ceiling wash. photo by Sweetwater Portraits by Julie Melton

Wolfgang Puck Catering out did themselves The couple had a variety of yummy desserts including pink and mint colored macarons, ice cream sandwiches, and cake pops. They were all beautifully displayed on trays that Mitch found at antique stores. Photo by Sweetwater Portraits by Julie Melton

The couple chose EBE Paris for their entertainment, the dance floor was packed all night. Photo by Sweetwater Portraits by Julie Melton

From the bride:

“Moulage Collection, an etsy vendor, created our chalk board style boards for our seating chart ans well as the signature drink sign (St Germain cocktail and golf inspired John Daly) and beer garden sign. Our cake was from Bredenbeck’s bakery and was chocolate chip cake with buttercream frosting and raspberry filling, which guests could take home at the end of the night. “
