Art Deco Invitation in Marigold and Malachite, event hosted at Cairnwood Mansion. Angela Malicki Events , Philadelphia Stationery Designer talks about the details.
Looking back this past year, we designed several amazing invitations for many unique couples. We had the pleasure of meeting Celeste and her mom Mary Alice at Cairwood’s open house (Bryn Athyn, PA) in spring. I met with them at their lovely home to discuss invitation options. Jamie and Celeste wanted something that would correspond with their theme of the wedding including colors and style. The girls were wearing malachite blue dresses with accents of yellow. I started sketching a few options for them that would connect all details including type fonts.
They loved the idea of using my drawing of Cairnwood, which was auctioned at a charity event a year prior, for their thank you notes. The invitation consisted of three layers. The top printed layer was 2 color flat and pantone matched to the bottom layer and the color in the handmade paper which was used for the lining and the middle layer. The paper used was a Natural White linen in 120lb cover. I love the texture of paper and rarely use smooth card stock unless requested by the client. Many clients love the idea of textured card stock as it feels nice to the touch.
The couple opted for a reply postcard with their return address and entrée selection. We utilized the Cairnwood Mansion drawing for their thank you notes and added the couples name to personalize it.
Hint: Using a postcard instead of the reply card with matching envelope will save money with postage and the total weight of the invitation. You can save .15 by doing so.
We really enjoyed designing this invitation as it is truly custom and unique. If you are interested in something like this, drop us a line or email us at hello@titusprint.com or 267.253.0573
